Count URL characters and words to help keep your URLs short. Shorter URLs are generally more effective, and keeping them within a limited number of characters is a practical method for creating SEO-friendly URLs. A URL length of approximately 3 to 40 characters is a useful target when possible. Shorter is generally better. Use either joined words, such as “yoururltitle,” or preferably hyphens, such as “your-url-title,” when naming URLs.
For HTML titles displayed in search results, aim to stay within approximately 60 characters. Longer titles may be truncated, particularly on mobile devices.
For meta description tags, use approximately 125 to 160 characters.
